Anime Fire App Privacy Policy

How the Anime Fire mobile app handles your information.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the Anime Fire mobile application (the "App"), published by Anime Fire and powered by the Confanum event platform ("we," "us," or "our"). The App is the official companion for Anime Fire conventions — including Anime Riverside, Anime Pasadena, and other Anime Fire events. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices.

2. Information the App Collects

Information You Provide

• Name and email address (if you create an account or submit a form within the app)
• Survey or Q&A responses submitted through in-app features
• Scavenger hunt check-ins and other interactive feature participation

Information Collected Automatically

• Device type, operating system, and app version
• Push notification token (if you enable notifications)
• General usage data (screens viewed, features used, session duration)
• Crash reports and performance diagnostics

Information the App Does Not Collect

• The App does not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature
• The App does not collect precise GPS location data. Approximate location may be inferred from your IP address
• The App does not track you across other apps or websites

3. How Information Is Used

Information collected through the App is used to:

• Display event schedules, guest information, maps, and other event content
• Deliver push notifications about schedule changes, announcements, and event updates
• Enable interactive features such as Q&A, scavenger hunts, and virtual queues
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Generate anonymous, aggregate analytics for the event organizer (e.g., most viewed sessions, peak usage times)

4. How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with:

• Anime Fire (the Event Organizer): Anime Fire may receive aggregate analytics and, where applicable, form submissions or Q&A responses you submit
• Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App, including:
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting, content delivery, file storage
  • Firebase (Google) — authentication, push notifications (FCM), crash reporting
  • Amplitude — usage analytics
  • Apple Push Notification service (APNs) — iOS push notification delivery
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process

5. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications. These are used for event announcements, schedule changes, and organizer messages. You can enable or disable push notifications at any time in your device settings:

• iOS: Settings → Notifications → Anime Fire
• Android: Settings → Apps → Anime Fire → Notifications

6. Data Storage and Security

• Data is stored on secure servers in the United States
• All data is transmitted using TLS/SSL encryption
• We follow industry-standard security practices to protect your information
• Event content (schedules, guest info, maps) is cached locally on your device for offline access

7. Data Retention

We retain data collected through the App for specific periods:

• Event content data: Retained for the duration of the event and for up to 24 months afterward to allow continued access and historical reference
• Account data: Retained while your account is active and for up to 12 months after last use
• Analytics data: Aggregated and anonymized within 12 months of collection
• Push notification tokens: Retained while the App is installed; automatically removed when you uninstall

8. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by event attendees of all ages, but interactive features that collect personal information (account creation, form submissions, Q&A) are intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.

If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App without appropriate consent, please contact us at privacy@confanum.com and we will promptly delete it.

9. Your Rights and Choices

• Notifications: Disable push notifications through your device settings at any time
• Data Deletion: Request deletion of any personal information by contacting us or using the account deletion page
• Uninstall: You can remove the App and all locally cached data at any time by uninstalling it from your device

10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide you with additional rights:

• Right to Know: You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you
• Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain legal exceptions
• Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights

Categories of Personal Information Collected: Identifiers (name, email), internet activity (usage data, session logs), and device information (device type, OS, app version).

11. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you with additional rights, including the right to access, rectify, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International Data Transfers: Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission (where applicable) to ensure adequate protection.

The App may contain links to external websites or services (e.g., ticket purchase pages, social media profiles, sponsor websites). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
