How to permanently remove your account and personal data from Confanum.

Quick summary

You can delete your Confanum account at any time, for any reason, with no charge and no questions asked. You have two options:

• From inside the mobile app (fastest, immediate)
• By email (if you can't access the app)

Either way, we process deletion requests within 30 days as required by applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, COPPA).

Option 1: Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest path. Your account is deactivated immediately and all personal data is purged from our active systems within 24 hours.

1. Open your Confanum-powered mobile app on your phone or tablet
2. Tap the menu icon (top-left or bottom-right depending on your app)
3. Tap Settings
4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete My Account
5. Confirm twice — we ask for confirmation to prevent accidental deletion
6. The app will sign you out and clear all locally-stored data

Once you confirm, your account is queued for permanent deletion. You'll be signed out immediately and your data will be removed from our active systems within 24 hours. Backup copies are purged within 30 days.

Option 2: Request deletion by email

If you can't access the app — for example, you lost your device, you no longer have the app installed, or you signed up with an email that's no longer valid — you can email us directly:

Include in the body: the email address you used to sign up (or the convention you attended, if you signed up anonymously)

We'll verify your identity (usually by sending a confirmation link to your sign-up email) and process the deletion within 30 days. We'll send a confirmation email when the deletion is complete.

What gets deleted

When you request account deletion, we permanently remove:

• Your account record (email address, display name, profile picture)
• Your authentication credentials (Google, Apple, Facebook, or email/password)
• Your saved schedule, favorites, and personal agenda
• Your friends list and any direct messages you sent or received
• Your event check-in history and session ratings
• Your photos uploaded to event galleries (if any)
• Your push notification token
• Your analytics events tied to your user ID

What is NOT deleted (and why)

A small amount of information is retained as required by law or for legitimate business reasons. Most of this is anonymized so it can't be linked back to you:

• Payment records: If you purchased event tickets through Confanum, we retain transaction records (order number, amount, date, ticket type) for 7 years as required by tax and financial reporting regulations. These records do not contain your full payment card number — only a tokenized reference and the last 4 digits of the card used.
• Aggregate analytics: Anonymized event-level metrics (total attendance, session popularity, average ratings) that no longer identify you personally. These are retained indefinitely to support multi-year event reporting.
• Audit log entries: If you were an event admin or volunteer with privileged access, the audit log of your administrative actions (orders processed, refunds issued, content published) is retained for 7 years for compliance purposes. Your name and email are kept in these entries.
• Legal hold data: If your account is the subject of an active legal investigation, dispute, or chargeback, we retain the relevant information until the matter is resolved.
• Backups: Database backups are retained for 30 days after deletion. Your data is removed from backups on a rolling basis as old backups expire.

A note on event organizer data

If you are an event organizer (not just an attendee) and you maintain a Confanum admin account for managing your convention, deleting your personal account will not delete the event content you've created — schedules, guest profiles, vendor listings, etc. — because that content belongs to your organization, not to you personally.

If you want to delete the entire organization's data, please contact support@confanum.com with the subject "Organization Data Deletion." We'll confirm your authority to make this request and process it within 30 days.

A note on anonymous users

If you used a Confanum-powered app without ever signing in (browsing as a guest), there is no account to delete — we never collected your email address or any identifier that ties usage back to you personally. The only data tied to your device is a randomly-generated anonymous identifier and any favorites you saved locally on your device. To remove this data, simply uninstall the app.

Right to deletion under privacy law

Your right to request account deletion is protected by several privacy laws, including:

• GDPR Article 17 (EU and UK) — the right to erasure
• CCPA / CPRA (California) — the right to delete personal information
• COPPA (US) — required parental ability to delete data collected from children under 13
• Various other state and national privacy laws
